US 59 Roadway Improvement in Wharton County H&H Study

TxDOT Yokaum District

Summary

Sahas was responsible for the hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the roadway improvement project and mitigations required to negate  the adverse impact on current  flooding conditions

FM 1960 Roadway Improvement Drainage Design PS&E

TxDOT Houston District

Summary

As the drainage PS&E EOR, Jim Han conducted drainage design using Geopak Drainage and developed storm sewer system construction plan set including plan and profile, lateral sheets, drainage details, quantity takeoff, and cost estimate. The project is currently under construction as of 2023.

IH-30 Improvements from Linkcrest to IH-820

TxDOT Fort Worth District

Summary

Sahas led H&H analysis and drainage design for improvement of IH-30 in the City of Fort Worth. 7 major crossings including one bridge over Mary’s Creek, two bridge-class culverts, and 4 other culverts were designed. On-site hydraulics analysis and design of storm sewer including inlets, junctions, man-holes, and an extensive network of pipes were done.

Barrier Free HCTRA (BFH) Program H&H

Harris County Toll Road Authority, Texas

Summary

As the H&H discipline manager, Jim worked closely with the H&H consultants to develop the project scopes and fees and establish the required H&H study criteria and Jim coordinated the H&H study efforts. As the owner’s representative, Jim facilitated the coordination with stakeholders including TxDOT HOU District, HCFCD, and HCTRA.

METRO Inner Katy Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) H&H

Harris County, Texas

Summary

Jim (H&H task lead) drafted and negotiated the PER and PS&E phase drainage contract and led the drainage effort with H&H subconsultants. Jim helped the project coordination with nearby flood mitigation projects  by other entities, including TxDOT (Inner Katy Drainage Improvement, White Oak Bayou, Katy Managed Lanes and NHHIP) and COH.

Covington Woods Offline Detention Pond

Sugar Land, Texas

Summary

Jim Han, Project Manager and EOR, developed the detention basin excavation plan, designed the lateral weir and outfall structure with a flap gate for backflow prevention. The construction was completed in December 2016.

DeShazer Development, Harris County

Harris County, Texas

Summary

Sahas was responsible for the master drainage plan for this project, including design of a conveyance channel and multiple detention basin to mitigate potential flood impact by the development. The development is located within Willow Creek watershed and Little Cypress Creek watershed  in Harris County.

South Shaver Stormwater Detention Basin

Harris County, TX

Summary

Sahas performed an H&H analysis for a tributary of Sims Bayou to analyze benefit of constructing a new detention basin (C506-01-00-E003). Three different basin configurations were simulated for different frequency rainfall and a matrix of advantages and disadvantages along with hydraulic result of each option were presented.

Windrow Development Master Drainage Plan

Harris County, Texas

Summary

Sahas was Responsible for the master drainage plan for this project, including design of a conveyance channel and a regional detention basin for the HCFCD using XPSWMM. The new conveyance channel will drain a proposed HCFCD detention basin located to the north of Bauer Hockley Road, and provide room for a regional detention pond along the main stem of Little Cypress Creek.

Louisiana Watershed Initiative

Louisiana

Summary

Jim Han served as deputy project manager/task lead for Region 6 and Sahas served as task lead for East Central Louisiana Costal watershed. The goal of the project was to develop Hydraulic HEC-RAS 2D model with Rain over Mesh (ROM).

Cypress Regional Drainage Plan

Harris County, Texas

Summary

Sahas worked on the study to evaluate the benefits of multiple detention basins along Cypress Creek. Twelve detention basins were simulated in different combinations to analyze the flood reduction benefits. A detailed 1D/2-D was developed to analyze different alternatives and their flood reduction benefits.

Clawson Ditch Channel Improvement Study

Harris County, Texas

Summary

Sahas was responsible for the preparation of the PER for the conceptual design of the detention basin and channel improvement for flood mitigation along Clawson Ditch (Q122-00-00). The task included H&H analysis, development and analysis of possible alternatives, prioritization, and conceptual design of recommended alternatives.
