Lost Forest Cabins Development

Lost Forest Cabins is a premier vacation destination nestled within the serene landscape of the Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery County, Texas. This unique 10-cabin eco-resort offers guests an immersive nature experience centered around outdoor recreation, including kayaking, fishing, dedicated picnic areas, and community fire pits.

Developing a commercial hospitality site within a national forest footprint requires a delicate balance between environmental stewardship and rigorous municipal engineering standards. As the Engineer of Record, Krest Engineers successfully navigated these complexities by delivering:

  • Civil Site Design: Developed the comprehensive site layout, grading plans, and utility routing for the 10-cabin resort, optimizing the footprint to preserve the surrounding natural forest canopy and existing topography.
  • Drainage Analysis & Mitigation: Performed detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to ensure the development would not adversely impact adjacent properties or the sensitive local watershed.
  • Detention Basin Design: Engineered and optimized on-site stormwater detention infrastructure to manage peak runoff rates in strict accordance with Montgomery County drainage criteria.
  • Construction Plan Set Development: Produced a complete, multidisciplinary civil construction drawing package including grading, drainage, detention basin, SWPPP, and dimensional site plans.

Due to the site's unique location, securing agency approvals required strict adherence to regional infrastructure standards. Krest Engineers successfully guided the project through the regulatory pipeline, achieving full review and official approval of the complete construction plan set and drainage analysis by the Montgomery County Engineering Department.
